For children      08/17/2023

Game quest for a summer health camp. Ira at summer camp

All of them are successfully conducted by active mothers and novice animators. Thanks for your kind comments!

This quest is intended for children 10-13 years old. Many people at this age love dinosaurs, so the science fiction story by my beloved Conan Doyle, “The Lost World,” on which the game is based, will not disappoint them. I really hope that after the quest the children will run to read the book itself.

I can’t express with what pleasure I re-read the tattered PAPER book when I was preparing material for the script... I envied myself!

The essence of the quest

  • This is a quest that can be carried out in an apartment of any size, in a cafe, in a country house, in a classroom and outdoors. The props are the simplest, and there is no need to hide anything. Comfortable! .
  • There can be only two children (this is already two teams), 6, 8, 10, etc. If the area allows, the quest can be carried out for 30 people, divided into teams.
  • I have prepared worksheets with tasks (download them for free), but you can easily remove unnecessary ones and add your own challenges. On the first sheets the riddles are more complex, on the last sheets there are simply fun tasks for the children to have fun and “let off steam”, dance and make faces.
  • The goal of the quest is to gain access to the Lost World (the country of Maple White). This will be just a piece of paper with the appropriate note, but you can put gifts for the birthday person or all guests along with the certificate.

For completed tasks, teams receive points, which I propose to give out in the form of gummy worms (in Conan Doyle’s story there were poisonous Yarakaki snakes). We put the rewards for passing the tests in separate jars for each team. If the task is completed without a hint - 2 worms. If with a hint - 1 worm. If you didn't manage it, you can't get a worm.

At the end, we give everyone the same gifts, but the winning team can be additionally rewarded with chocolate dinosaur eggs.

Where to begin?

My script uses the names of the main characters in the story. In principle, you can play it right away, but it will be better if you tell the essence of the book in at least a few words. I propose to sit the children in front of a computer screen and show footage from the old Soviet filmstrip “The Lost World.” This will take about 10 minutes. Everything is very short, but the game will go differently.

What should the presenter do?

1. Distribute to each team a sheet with the task, supporting materials and props.
2. Make sure that the children read and understand the task or read and explain the essence on their own.
3. Time yourself when necessary.
4. Monitor the progress of solving riddles and give prompt hints.
5. Kindly announce the winner of each challenge and place the gummy worms in different jars.
6. Monitor the progress of the game, help and cancel difficult tasks if the children do everything very slowly.

What tasks for teams look like

I tried to prepare everything so that you can simply download and use. As a reminder, you can edit each sheet to add or simplify tasks.

These are 8 sheets with a brief dossier and tasks from all the heroes and characters in Conan Doyle’s story “The Lost World”.

I give you 10 folders, which will contain:

1. The task sheet itself from one of the characters in the story (this is a text format, pictures are not visible when viewed, you need to download it for editing)
2. Auxiliary pictures, if they are needed for the quest
3. Filmstrip Part 1 and Part 2 (you can watch directly from my Yandex disk, using the arrow, you can download it to your computer)

Quest script and instructions for the leader

In the left column there is a brief description of the task for children (it is in full on the sheets that I provide for downloading).
In the right column are comments for the presenter. I’m not writing the riddle in detail - everything is in that wonderful folder.

introduction

Greetings, brave souls. I am a descendant of Professor Challenger, who proved to his contemporaries the existence of the Lost World. The laws of nature have lost their force in this place due to complete isolation from the outside world. This is an amazing plateau with dinosaurs, pterodactyls and ancient plants.

My great-grandfather carefully encrypted all the coordinates, and only a select few can gain access to the Lost World! Are you ready to take a risk?

If you can complete all these tasks, you will receive a certificate from me. Present it to our faithful assistant, who lives in the Amazon, who will show you the way to the Lost World.

Assignments from the artist Maple-White

Who found the artist

In the "Who Found the Artist" activity, children must compare the fingerprint on the bottle with the fingerprints they receive on the extra sheet.

One print needs to be cut out and a square glued to any bottle. Children compare drawings. Correct answer: Professor Challenger found the artist.

Encryption

Each team receives any one book and a word (phrase) of 8 letters. Children encrypt words and exchange books and codes to solve their opponent's code.

The leader gives one team the word “Help” and the other the phrase “The Diamond is here.” Monitors the correctness of actions, gives commands for the exchange of encryption.

Album with drawings

The team receives a dinosaur coloring book. But you need to paint it... with plasticine! Tear off small pieces and quickly cover up the dinosaur itself and the background. Everyone needs to work at the same time so that something worthwhile can be achieved in 5 minutes.

The presenter times exactly 5 minutes. Based on the results, it gives points to the teams. At the end of the quest, you can arrange an exhibition of plasticine paintings.

Professor Challenger's quests

Three riddles

Riddle 1.Continue the sequence S, O, N, D, Z, F, M (there are details on the sheet)

The presenter gives a hint in case of difficulty: remember the calendar. Correct answer: these are the first letters of the months starting from September. The next letter is A (April).

Riddle 2. If you call her name, she will disappear...

Correct answer: silence.

Riddle 3. Five round gingerbread cookies need to be divided among 6 people. But! You cannot divide each gingerbread into 6 parts.

To solve the problem, hand out paper and pencils and let them divide the circles on the paper. Correct answer: If we cut 3 gingerbread cookies in half, we get 6 identical pieces. We cut the remaining 2 gingerbreads into 3 identical parts and again get 6 identical parts.

Balloon

Children receive materials and instructions for making a ball with a basket for flying.

The presenter gives each team one helium balloon, thick threads, adhesive tape and a disposable cup. The winner is the team that did everything quickly and efficiently.

It took my daughter 4 minutes to make this ball. To prevent it from flying away, they put a dinosaur there.

Journalist Ned Malone's assignment

Lost World Map

2 people from each team participate. One holds the open felt-tip pen motionless, the other moves a piece of paper along the tip of the felt-tip pen, trying to repeat Ned's map.

The presenter distributes markers and sheets of paper on a hard base - the sheet should not bend. The winner is determined by the quality of the drawings.

Professor Summerlee's Assignment

The Mystery of the Ice Balls

Children receive balls that must be defrosted under running water and find a note with a puzzle about a father and two sons.

Regular balloons are pulled over a tap, filled with water to the size of a tennis ball, tied and frozen in the freezer. They look really cool with the toy! Place a note with the task in one ball, after wrapping it in a bag. If this is not possible, inflate the balloons and let them pop to their heart's content.

Correct answer: First, both sons cross. One of the sons returns back to his father. The father moves to the opposite bank to join his son. The father remains on the shore, and the son is transported to the original shore after his brother, after which they both are transported to their father.

Extra phrase

Children must find the odd phrase among 7 sentences.

Correct answer: all phrases are palindromes, i.e. read from left to right and right to left the same. All except one: “I’m just kidding.”

Traveler John Roxton's Quest

Fruits and roots

We select one representative from each team and blindfold him. They have to try 5 different fruits and vegetables and guess what it is.

We cut all the products into small pieces and put them in the mouth, pricking them with a toothpick. Apples, pears, plums, grapes, carrots, beets, cabbage, bell peppers, garlic, onions, etc. Oh, they make such funny faces... Everyone is having fun!

Color and name of stones

Just connect the color and name with lines. There are 2 stones for each color.

The fastest team wins, as the task is very simple.

The task of the dark-skinned servant Sambo

Ropes

You need to quickly, efficiently and firmly tie 10 pieces of clothesline.

Scenario quest - games

Jack Sparrow: Here with such people we will find all the treasures on Earth.

Recently, parents often choose quests as entertainment for children's parties. And this choice is completely justified. After all, what kids look forward to most at a holiday is entertainment; they want active recreation. And of course, children love to solve secrets and riddles. Therefore, a series of tasks united by a single goal or theme always delights children of any age.

Parents want the quest to be simple in terms of its implementation; it requires a minimum of props. This is especially true if the holiday will take place outdoors and a quest game is planned for children on the street.

This is exactly the quest scenario we want to present to you. It is designed for preschoolers and elementary school students who know letters, numbers, and can read and write. All the tasks are simple and can be solved by a preschooler or first grader.

The theme of the quest is animals, and the tasks are somehow related to them.

The quest is designed for one team, that is, all participants go through it together, everyone has a common goal, there are no winners and losers, which means no one will be offended.

An adventure can be organized in the forest, in the park. A prerequisite is the presence of trees, bushes, grass. Locations with tasks do not have to be far from each other, even if they are all within sight. Participants still don’t know in advance in what order they will go through the stages

Preparation and necessary props

First stage

You will need: an envelope, a sheet of paper with crossword puzzle tasks, a sheet with the crossword puzzle itself, a pen, pencil or felt-tip pen.

We hide the crossword and the tasks for it in an envelope. The envelope must be in the hands of the leader at the beginning of the quest.

Second phase

You will need: a file, a printed image of a goat, printed and cut out words and syllables, clothespins or paper clips to attach the words and syllables to the bush.

We are looking for a suitable tree with a bush growing next to it, or just a separately growing bush. We hide the file with the image of the goat and the text of the task in a file. We attach the file to a tree or bush with a rope or a button. We attach words and syllables to the bush with clothespins in random order. It is not necessary to hang everything in plain sight to make it more interesting; we hide several of them deep into the bush.

Third stage

Props: a file, a printed image of a fox, an envelope with a task, several matchboxes or Kinder Surprise capsules, printed clues and several empty pieces of paper that are hidden in matchboxes.

In the file we put an image of a fox, the text of the task and attach it to the tree.

There should be more boxes than clues. Some will have papers with hints, and some will have blank papers. This will complicate the search process and make it more interesting. We hide the boxes carefully; for this it is advisable to look for tall grass. Matchboxes can be replaced with Kinder Surprise capsules.

Fourth stage

We need: a file with a picture of a cat, an envelope with a printed assignment, several identical ropes, 9 mouse figures cut out of cardboard. Each mouse has a letter on it. From the letters you can form the word “treasure”.

We attach the file with the image of the cat and the task to the tree. We string mouse figures in random order onto ropes - 2-3 pieces on each rope. We wrap the ropes around the tree so that they are not too easy to unwind.

Here's a mouse template:

Fifth stage

Props: a file with images of mice and a task. You will also need a bucket of sand and a lockable box. The treasures will be hidden in the box. You can use sweets, small toys, souvenirs, stickers and other nice little things as treasures.

We hide the key to the castle in a bucket of sand.

Well, now we begin our quest for children in nature, the tasks have been prepared and are waiting for the participants.

Start of the adventure

The presenter holds the envelope with the first task. The envelope contains a crossword puzzle that needs to be solved. There are only four riddles in the crossword puzzle, the answers to which fit into the cells, and as a result, in the gray cells we should get a key word. It is this word that will lead us to the next task.

Puzzles:

  1. There are ears on the top of his head, he sleeps on a pillow. Mice hunter, who is he? …….(Cat)
  2. Our grandmother is ready to give milk...... (Cow)
  3. He jumps very cleverly, he loves carrots (Hare)
  4. Barks loudly, guards, protects from villains. (Dog)

What word did we get? Goat! This means we are looking for the next task where the goat is drawn.

Location Goat

The guys run to a tree with a file with a picture of a goat attached to it. The following task is found in this file.

Text of the task: “Dear children! When I was grazing in the forest, I noticed that unusual leaves appeared on the bush. Apparently, forest animals left them here. You need to collect the leaves and figure out what is written on them.”

Participants collect pre-prepared leaves with words and syllables from the bush. Some syllables are missing in the words, they need to be inserted.

Words:

Syllables:

We insert syllables into words and get the names of animals:

  • squirrel;
  • hamster;
  • chipmunk;
  • chinchilla;

Host: Now let's see if there is anything in common between our animals? Maybe one of them is redundant?

Children must guess that almost all of the listed animals are rodents, except for the fox. If it’s hard for children to guess, the presenter can ask leading questions: what do all these animals eat, what do they have in common in their appearance, etc. In the end, the children come to the conclusion that the fox is the odd one out on this list. This will be the key to the next task. Children are looking for a tree with a picture of a fox.

Location Chanterelle

Host: Let's take out the envelope and see what task the cunning fox has prepared for us.

The presenter takes out an envelope and reads the task: “Hello guys, I’m a little fox-sister. Help me in my trouble! I had some clues, but I ran, waved my tail, and the clues fell apart. Help me collect them!”

Children look for matchboxes with clues in the grass. Then they open each of them and figure out what is hidden in them.

And here are the tips themselves:

  • not water, but liquid, not snow, but white (milk)
  • lives in a river, but is not a frog (fish)
  • It can be for children, and it is also used to make cheesecakes (cottage cheese)
  • small and gray, but everyone is afraid of her (mouse)

Host: Well, the children, we helped the fox with the clues, but what is encrypted in them?

Children try to guess it themselves; if they don’t succeed, you can give them some advice. All the answers are the food of some animal. Which one exactly? That's right, cat! So now we need to look for a tree with a picture of a cat.

Location Cat

Host: Guys, let's see what kind of task the fluffy cat has prepared for us. We take out the text of the task from the envelope.

Text of the task: “Hello kids! I got lost in the forest and lost all my mice along the way. Help me find them. I know for sure that the mice must tell you something very important, but I don’t know what exactly...”

Kids unravel the rope on the tree, removing cardboard mice from it. When all the mice are removed from the rope, you need to make a word from the letters depicted on them. Participants form the word “Treasure”.

Host: What did we do? Treasure! What does it mean? That the treasure is somewhere close! And who gave us a hint about the treasure! Right! Mice! So we are looking for the next task from the mice.

Mouse Location

Children approach the tree with mice, the leader takes out the task from the file.

Text of the task: “Hello kids, we are mouse friends! The key to the treasure was hidden in our hole, but the hole was filled up and now the key is under the sand. Help me find the key, and as a reward you will receive treasures from the secret chest.”

Participants together look for a key in a bucket of sand. If you want to complicate the task, take several different keys and hide them in the sand. Then the guys will have to go through several keys before finding the right one.

When the key is found and the chest is opened, the kids happily take their treasure!

Conclusion

It’s good to organize such a quest when the holiday is coming to an end. Sweets found in the chest can complement the sweet table.

The duration of this quest is from half an hour to an hour. The duration of the event will depend on the participants themselves and on the presenter, in particular on whether he will give them prompts and ask leading questions.

If desired, you can supplement the children's quest on the street with a map. Make such a map based on the location of locations in your area. Although the map does not play a special role in the quest itself, it is rather for the general surroundings.

Almost all the props can be found in any stationery store, which greatly simplifies the organization of the quest. The exception is a bucket of sand and a box with a lock. If finding a bucket and sand is not a problem, then the box will have to be selected according to size, and perhaps decorate it, because it is, after all, a treasure. Well, you’ll have to use dad to attach the lock to the box.

We wish you a happy children's holiday!

The quest is an excellent solution for holding an event at a summer camp. During the quest, children will be able to feel like real adventurers and solve charades and puzzles. Participants will be given a task: to find the treasures of the gnomes, and having completed it they will receive a well-deserved reward! The quest is easy to organize using the quest script at the “In Search of the Rainbow” summer camp.

Scenario of the quest in the summer camp “In Search of the Rainbow”

The presenter meets the guys. You can turn on background music to create an atmosphere.

Host: Hello guys, do you like adventures? (Children answer) What about treasure hunts? (Children answer) Do you know who gnomes are? (Children answer) According to legend, gnomes have countless treasures that are found in caves and mines. And they move along the rainbow, in order to find the treasures of the gnomes you need to find all the colors of the rainbow, put them together and then we will find out where the treasures of the gnomes are kept. Are you ready to go on an adventure? Then remember what color is the first in the rainbow? That's right, red! Find a gnome with a red cap, complete his task and you will receive one piece of the gnome map. You need to collect all the colors of the rainbow, add them up and you will get a treasure map!

Hint for organizers: the treasure map should consist of puzzle pieces, each piece of the map is painted in one of the colors of the rainbow, so the entire map is all the colors of the rainbow.

Dwarf Grumpy: Hello guys, I'm Grumpy. I won't give you my color - I'm in a bad mood! But if you make me laugh, then maybe I’ll be a little kinder and share a hint with you. But just be on your guard, as soon as the music stops you will all need to find a mate. Whoever doesn't make it in time, I'll catch and tickle him!

The guys dance with Grumpy and get a hint.

I will take out the notes and read out the second part, and your task, guys, is to guess the name written in the first part.

Participants write, the gnome takes out and reads the definition, the task of the children is to guess who it is about. If you guessed right, then the one whose name was guessed completes the task invented by the guys, if not, the gnome takes out the next note.

Station 7. Purple.
