Celebration All Saints' Day is somewhat foreign to the Russian and Russian people, especially the older generation. Children perceive the refusal to carry out this holiday, as a limitation of one’s own freedoms in the world of entertainment. I considered it possible and wiser to transform mindless horror stories into an intellectual team game with a magical twist. That's what came out of it.

Heroes:

Young Alan is a misfit who finds himself in the magical world against his will. In our interpretation, Alan is an eternal child, since he does not live his own life in an alien, even hostile territory. Over the years of his stay in Jumanji, the boy never remembered the clue that could take him out of the game and return him home. Alan is endowed with a funny disposition and a keen sense of justice. In a word, in the boy, the characteristics of the rogue Dunno, the adventurer Tom Sawyer, the proud Kai and the peacemaker Jim Hawkins from Stevenson’s novel “Treasure Island” are intricately intertwined.

Pilgrims are guests of the party. They have the ability to influence the development of the plot. The fate of Alan, the country of Jumanji, and, finally, their own choice of the path home depends on the pilgrims.

Antiheroes:

Queen Jumana is a dazzling beauty. Cold or hot - at your discretion. The diva sits (or rather reclines) on a throne resembling a sea shell. The royal person is silent and arrogant, conveying messages and orders through body language. In her demeanor she is more reminiscent of a sacred Matriarch or a queen bee. It cannot be said unequivocally that Jumana personifies evil. The Queen stands guard over the secrets and interests of her mysterious country, hidden from the prying eye. And her position is worthy of respect.

The queen's assistants and associates are earth and water magicians; charmers of creeping reptiles and spider legs.

Gray Cardinal Raven - Advisor to Her Majesty. This character is the frontman of the evening. He holds competitions and follows the rules of the game. The wise bird also does not stand among the dark forces. Rather, it is an arbitrator. Raven is wearing a silver-black cloak with torn edges; his forehead is crowned with either a horn or a beak.

The Raven character can be replaced with a shaman.

The queen's subjects are lions, monkeys, snakes, crocodiles, spiders. All together they annoy the heroes in every possible way. Their sabotaging actions have a purpose: not to let Alan out of the green world of Jumanji. The boy knows too much! The maximum task is to keep the newly arrived pilgrims inside the Otherworld.

Citizens of Jumanji may be “living masks” as tall as a person.

Artifacts

The Gate or Wormhole (according to Wheeler) is an imitation of a stone arch entwined with wild ivy or a semblance of a huge keyhole through which guests find themselves in another dimension.

Chips - Magic stones or Crystals of fate (green - for antiheroes, red - for pilgrims). It is possible to use life-size puppets or costumes “Elephant”, “Lion”, “Crocodile”, “Monkey”.

Pre-Audience Engagement

A stylish way to invite someone to a party would be to have correspondence delivered to your office by a “special communications officer” (a Jumana ambassador in eco-clothes with animal paint, an African shaman, an actor in a Raven costume).

The Ambassador will solemnly unroll a scroll in front of the assembled members of your team and read aloud the text of the message (decree) of the Pearl Queen of the country of Jumanji.

The contents of the scroll are approximately the following: “...One of you (looks meaningfully around everyone, as if looking for a lawbreaker) owns an object that does not belong to him.

On such and such a day and hour, in such and such a place, you must all gather together - and this is not discussed! In order to transfer an object that does not belong to you, which is the sacred game “Fanorona”, into the hands of Raven - the faithful servant of the mistress of the seas and forests, mistress of the elements and so on, Her Majesty the Pearl Queen Jumana.

Disobeying the will of the Greatest Jumana means admitting your surrender in a game that has already begun. Whether you want it or not...”

The messenger bows ceremoniously and leaves your office. Forever. There will not be a second invitation from the queen! Make up your mind right now, you have 5 minutes!;)

The message contains an invitation to play on behalf of Queen Jumana:

“Mistress of the seas and forests, mistress of the elements and so on, Her Majesty the Pearl Queen Jumana awaits you on such and such a day and hour in such and such a place.

The game of Jumanji has already begun and you are in it. Therefore, a negative answer is not accepted. Those who refuse will be forever deprived of a visa to the Tam-Tam Otherworld.”

Scene One - "Transition"

Guests will immediately be immersed in the celebration of hoaxes, adventures and unexpected transformations stated in the invitations. You and your friends will feel like pioneers in unknown, mysterious worlds that exist beyond the limits of modern knowledge of Natural phenomena.

An arch will be placed in the Welcome zone, marking that same mysterious transition from reality to the Otherworld. Or a certain line has been drawn (air flow, haze, sound signal), beyond which the Gate guard will meet you. He will let anyone through who says the secret password.

So, each new arrival has the right to write a task on a piece of paper and put a “forfeit” in the Chest of Secret Desires. All guests who agree not only to write tasks, but also to complete them subsequently receive an identification number.

The Cup then passes into the hands of Arbiter Raven. He takes it to the stage.

After guests are “teleported” to another dimension, they will be taken to the Winners' Alley. Here, depending on your emphasis, both stylized eco-stands depicting milestones and achievements of your company, and neon projections of parallel worlds can be placed (at your discretion, the storyline can be transferred to different metaphysical planes: from outer space, man-made the future to the fairy forest, etc. - Author's note).

Against the backdrop of all this fantasy splendor, guests will be able to take photos and also listen to a (comic) lecture from Raven about the dangers of breaking the rules and serenely jumping from one dimension to another.

Here you will have fun and play a little prank with funny monkeys. These heroes are good-natured, but extremely spoiled. They can steal some item from an unwary guest and demand a ransom for it (for example, play snow hunt - the description of the game is in the appendix; dance with them; drink a magic potion; jump on one leg the distance from the arch to the storage of looted treasures) .

From the author. Guests should be warned about possible pranks, let them give the thieving monkeys the opportunity to frolic, and take something insignificant with them for the evening (an empty wallet, a cheap chain, key chains, keys from nowhere, an old cell phone - in any case, the “stolen” will be returned to the owner ).

Musical themes from the movie “Jumanji”: The Game, Rampage Through Town will add a mystical mood to the evening. As well as psychedelic “music of the spheres” and ritual rhythms of African drums.

Scene two. Immersion in the Tam-Tam Otherworld

When the guests took their places in the hall, the lights go out. Only the stage is slightly illuminated and shrouded in a mysterious bluish haze.

In complete silence, sounds gradually increase - they are beating tom-toms. Finally, the blows merge with a war cry. Bright lights flash, simulating bonfires. Jackals howl, tigers growl, hyenas cry - the atmosphere of a wild forest is frightening and at the same time fascinating for a city dweller.

Frightened monkeys are darting around the guests' tables. They report with horror that a hunter is coming for them. And he follows the unfortunate Alan. Oh, goddess Diana, where are the heroes who will save the boy from death!?

Meanwhile, shots are heard and a couple of monkeys fall as if killed. The angry voice of the “hunter” is heard.

While the hunter resolves himself with a tirade, the wounded monkeys rise and, looking around warily, comically hobble after their escaped fellow tribesmen.

Everything is quiet again. Unexpectedly for everyone, the space is illuminated with rainbow light, a rainbow motif sounds, accompanied by the singing of birds and the sound of falling water streams.

A waterfall can be recreated using blue and white LED lamps. The stage decor itself may imply the Green Castle, overgrown with strange flowers and vines that have sent out their gigantic roots.

From the author. A budget option for site design involves a play of light and iconic objects. Large cubes from the game, models of animals, video projections of views of a mysterious forest and desert. The sounds also help the audience to immerse themselves in another dimension.

So Alan appears on stage: he carefreely whistles and hums a song. He makes jokes about the newly emboldened monkeys poking their faces out from behind the scenes.

Having finally made sure that the danger has passed, the monkeys begin to dance, dragging the boy along with them.

Raven appears on the scene. Greets the pilgrims and calls their leader (the first person in your company) to the stage. The Arbiter initiates the leader into the background of the events that took place in the world of Jumanji before the appearance of Alan, and subsequently everyone who penetrated into the Tam-Tam Otherworld.

The legend of Jumanji may bear your company's imprint. For example, certain key events will merge with the history of Jumanji. Either your appearance is a fateful event for all the inhabitants of Jumanji: the boy was clearly in a different dimension. He upsets the balance of power in both worlds.

The head of the company can make a stylized speech-address to employees, partners or clients. It is also possible to show a corporate film.

The official part will be completed by the exit ceremony of Queen Jumana. Her appearance should be the climactic event in the plot. The royal personage is carried out on a palanquin under an embroidered canopy by four formidable Moors armed with swords.

Raven, a faithful servant and great diplomat, bows respectfully to Her Majesty and introduces the guests to her. She graciously accepts the gifts of pilgrims: according to ancient custom, envoys of other states presented rich and significant offerings to the monarch. In our case, this could be Fanoron's game.

However, returning the artifact is only half the battle! Ahead of the pilgrims are tests appointed by the Game itself.

And the tests will begin right in the hall with a game of Fanta.

The raven will call out the participant's number and take out a card with a task (in the note there are variants of tasks). Along with the guest cards, the chest will also contain fake tasks from the Queen’s cunning and treacherous servants. Their tasks are not so simple, they have a catch. The more guessed tasks the guests have on their account, the more red chips from Jumanji residents they have. This means that it will be easier for you to win at Fanoron!

After the intellectual and educational game, guests will be treated to a thematic composition performed by a children's choir or dance group. After touching children's singing, a hoax will take place performed by an illusionist with the participation of the audience.

A less expensive version of the production can be built on the fiery dances of the already familiar monkeys with access to the audience in the hall. A master class in drumming, native dancing and other colorful exotics is possible.

According to the plot, the ball will be divided into two parts. Before the game starts and after it ends.

At the end of the illusion, Raven will invite all guests to the game.

Despite the fact that critics didn’t particularly like the movie, it was quite successful, ultimately collecting 260 million against a budget of 65. Of course, it’s now clear how outdated many of the film’s computer effects are. But I still remember how impressive they were then, during my first viewing. And of course we must not forget about Robin Williams, capable of pulling off almost anything with his game.
I always found it strange that the studio didn't try to make more money from the film's success. No, of course, there was a television series of the same name, and I remember several times coming across news that a sequel to Jumanji was about to begin filming. But years passed, and he was still missing. However, it appears that the studio was planning on making a quick sequel after all. At least he definitely had a script. A scanned copy of it recently surfaced online. Judging by the title page, this is the second version. It is dated July 12, 2000 and written Jonathan Hensley(original screenwriter) with edits from David Ward.

I’ll say right away that none of the characters from the first part appeared in this script. I have no doubt that the studio offered Robin Williams large sums of money to take part in the sequel, but we must assume that he refused. So “Jumanji 2” was connected with the first part only by the game itself and the creatures crawling out of it.

So, the main characters of the failed sequel were to be an American president named Cooper, his wife and two children. The situation in the country's first family is quite tense - Cooper's wife and children accuse him of devoting all his energy to the presidency and thinking about the fate of the country instead of devoting time to them. To defuse the situation a little, Cooper decides to give the children a gift and buys a board game from an antique shop, which naturally turns out to be Jumanji.

After his kids start rolling dice, pandas and a huge python emerge from Jumanji, and then Cooper finds himself drawn into the game. He will stay in the Jumanji jungle until his next turn. The game itself disappears. Witnesses to everything that happens are Vice President Snyder and his bitchy and power-hungry wife (I have a suspicion that the authors slightly, or maybe not slightly, parodied Hillary Clinton). She ends up forcing her husband to lie about what happened. After all, if no one finds the game and makes a move, then Cooper will never return, which means she will become the First Lady.

A year passes. Snyder's presidency turns out to be extremely unsuccessful - there is a crisis in the country, unemployment, the stock market has collapsed, etc. Cooper's children, whom everyone takes for crazy, are all trying to find the game. In the end, we manage to find her. Having learned about this, the wife of the vice president orders the special services to find and arrest the Cooper family. After a series of adventures, Cooper and his family, who returned from the jungle to our world, gather in the White House to play out the game to the end.


This leads to a volcano growing in the middle of Capitol Hill, then a typhoon covers the city, then the White House is overrun by fire ants, as well as hybrids of tiger sharks and spider monkeys. On top of that, the vice president's distraught wife with a gun begins to chase Cooper. When practically nothing remains of the building, Cooper reaches the finale and pronounces the cherished Jumanji. All creatures return to the game, and time is rewinded back a year.

After everything he has experienced, Cooper, of course, improves and becomes a good father and husband. As for the game, he sends her to a safe place where she can never be found - a secret warehouse in Area 51. Yes, the last scene of the failed sequel was supposed to exactly repeat the ending " IN search for the lost ark».

To be honest, apart from the script itself, I was unable to find virtually any information about this project. But the very fact of the existence of the script, the fact that the screenwriter of the first part was brought in for the work, suggests that the idea of ​​a sequel was considered by the studio quite seriously. But I don’t want to regret that the continuation did not take place. Although the success of the original was largely built on spectacular effects, it also had a soul - four characters with quite good personal stories.

In this same script, the characters are purely for show, there are few memorable jokes, and besides, the middle of the action openly sags. Well, by and large, in visual terms the story did not offer anything beyond what we had not already seen in the first part. Yes, instead of an ordinary house, the White House was demolished, the effects would probably have been more spectacular, but this is just an increase in scale. Besides, the very idea of ​​adding politics, intelligence agencies to Jumanji... it's so strange. To be honest, it’s quite difficult for me to understand how such thoughts come into being and who gives them the green light, believing that this is exactly what is needed for success. It seems to me that if the film had been made, it would now definitely be on the list of the strangest sequels to famous films.

I'm guessing that most likely the sequel didn't happen because of September 11th. Most likely, after these events, the producers decided that a picture with the destruction of Washington landmarks that can be rolled back by throwing dice, simple verbal jokes about terrorists and without Robin Williams was unlikely to be accepted by the public. Even James Cameron had to give up here with his “True Lies 2,” what can we say about “Jumanji”? In any case, I can’t say that the fact that the sequel script remained on the shelf upsets me greatly.

As a result, after almost a decade and a half, Hollywood decided to return to Dumandzhi. Either a sequel or a reboot Dwayne Johnson has already been filmed, the premiere is scheduled for December this year. It’s hard to say whether it’s worth expecting anything from him. Let's hope the studio is more creative with the new Jumanji than that failed sequel from the 2000s.
